Judah was so very handsome! I always think of him, especially as his birthday approaches. Sometimes it sneaks up on me and I feel an unexplainable sadness, and then I realize, oh, it's late August. I spent the past year working on national board certification for teaching. I had 3 incredible study buddies. After our exams, we met for breakfast in South Pasadena. I hadn't been to that area in years. Suddenly, I saw the old-fashioned Pharmacy with the soda fountain, the Rite Aid, and then the park. I remember one day Judah and I were walking from the Rite Aid across the street to the Pharmacy. The pedestrian signal was flashing and I was full of energy as I eagerly tried to rush Judah across the street. He hobbled along slowly and told me that his future wife had to be a strong woman like his mom, because he was going to be sick like his dad. This was before we knew Judah was ill, but I guess he already felt something was wrong. On a funny note, I can't pass by a Wahoo's Taco place without remembering the time I got sick and literally leaped out of Judah's car to projectile vomit near the Starbucks. Judah lovingly wiped blobs of vomit out of my hair afterwards. I was so embarrassed! We should put all of our Judah stories in a book!
