Eleven Months

The Jewish eleven months are coming to an end. I have been saying Kaddish for Judah and next week marks the end of the formal mourning period. Soon Judah's memorial tablet will be ready and I can set the unveiling date. Its still impossible to believe that Judah is not sitting in the next room reading, talking and laughing. August would mark his 40th birthday. I can only imagine what a barbeque he would have made.

Dear Martha, Issi and Ben -

In essence, Judah IS in the next room, reading, talking and laughing and why not - he is now free of pain.

I understand that one of the purposes of saying Kaddish is to help usher a loved one's soul into heaven. Or as the Masai say, "Fika Salama."

I wish it had not gone this way, but it did, and undoubtedly, you have provided for Judah, safe passage.

Love, Robby

The world has suffered a great loss. Yet, we who knew Judah well and loved him best, can on this Earth, never fully recover from such a tragic loss. Memories...memories...and faith comprise our hope and perseverance. We miss you dearly brother, and anger is difficult to quell. But because your faith was so noble, so strong and true, I feel compelled to try. I will try.

Martha,

Thinking of you. How can 11 months have passed without Judah? I can still see him smile.
