Yesterday was the funeral. For the first time in a long time I just couldn't go to shachrit minyan, I just couldn't go. Why Hashem? Did you not hear our prayers? Do you really need him in the next world. This world needs him too with all the pain and suffering. None of this makes any sense. During my last visit with Mac in July, we spent time talking about belief in G-d. I told him I often felt lost in shul. Why was I there? The Mac was a rock and said it was important to go to shul and to believe. He believed. This morning I went to shul.
After davening, there was a bris. The Mac smiled down on us. It's a new day.

Dear Martha,Benji,Alissa & Abe: Fred and I realized yesterday how much we have missed in not knowing Judah. His intelligence, humor, character and strength rang throughout the beautiful service. The power of his life, while short lived, was obviously very real, and your loss and that of those he touched will ressonate for a very long time. But, I can't help but think that even stronger than that, those very qualities of his life whch we celebrate have been ever more enriched by those he loved and touched. I, for one feel fortunate to have been blessed with your friendship, in awe of your strength and ever amazed at the grace you exhibit even in your deepest hours of despair. We love you and send our deepest condolences. We will be back in town on Thursday. Much love, Rita & Fred Ellsberg
