Tears of Joy

He's up! He's up! This morning he was out of bed and sitting in his chair, greeeting me with jokes. I was so unprepared to see him up and functioning and talking I burst out crying.

He's like a 180 from Friday and days past. He even gave me one of his towels to wipe tears away and put his hand on my lap, which is HUGE if you know Judah, who's in a serious "don't touch me or anything mine" mode.

Glorious day here in City of Hope. He's smokin' an inhaler with a blue tube and lot's of opaque puffy smoke. It looks almost chic with the northern light and Duarte mountains behind his bald white head and blue plaid robe.

Ah yes, I like what I hear Judah. You and your jokes are classic. This is the best news I've got today...I ran a western today and did not see the band I want light up. But that's okay, after reading your blog just now, I am elated. Keep up the strong work in eating.

cheers, cindy c.

That is wonderful news! I'm sorry I'm not there to hear the jokes - it's been a long time since I've heard a Judah-joke. This latest blog entry brightened my week!

gleefully,
Stephanie G.

Hmmm. Judah's joke makes someone cry...
This may be the first time this is a good thing.
Glad to hear you are up and about. Lets get that food down and get out of Dodge. I'll try to stop by tomorrow afternoon.

What great news! This blog is amazing, especially when it delivers such wonderful news. Thanks Iss and Benji for keeping us so up-to-date with Judah's progress. Keep it up, Judah. I'll even cook for you if you start eating! Now I'm sure everyone will appreciate your jokes - for a while anyway...
Love,
Janet

Up and around, and touching people? That's great Judah! That can only mean one thing, you'll be here this weekend! We can't wait to see you at the "club." Remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! Cheers, Turquoise and Stacia

(hey, you told us you were a lawyer, not a monk, what gives??)

I am so glad I checked in on the blog before leaving the house.
YEY for Judah Daniel. The truth is my eyes are misty too, but gleefully so.

Keep it up Judah Daniel, you are on your way out of COH and heading to treelined Forrester Drive (sorry, no mountain backdrop).

If Judah has the strength to touch people the nurses in the unit had better watch out... Good luck working with the eating. We miss ya much.
On the funny note,

Today in clinic I saw a couple with GC who both claimed they were virgins. Amusing since she was pregnant too. They were the second one that day. A plague of immaculate conception going on in blkyn.

All our love,

CJ and Tali

Hey Judah!!

Great news! Keep it up. But I'm telling you--stay away from watching the Dodgers. It will not help your mood or your recovery.

My ultrasound yesterday went great. It's a boy for sure! No doubt about that. Greg's taking all the credit..

Saw a car in Chicago yesterday with the license plate "BOVINE 2" and thought of you.

LOL, Jill Franklin

Good afternoon, Dr. White, honey,

After I write all of the above, I am ready for a nap. We are so pleased with such good news and as you get up and moving you perhaps will find food a tad more appealing.

Hey, ask Rachel Z to make you a b'stilla, Moroccan carrots, and cous cous. That will put a zing into your taste buds. I'd do it. In fact, I WILL do it when I visit (G-d willing) next month.

In the meantime keep the good news rolling. Love from Mrs. C and the Doctor.

Judah,

Great news! Sitting & telling jokes?! That's the best news I've heard all week.

Have you had the energy to follow the tema? Glad we kept Zito, but I'm still waiting for the team to put it all together. We'll see.

I'm off to Santa Fe tomorrow (Friday) to visit the Aunt, Uncle & cousins for the weekend. My "little" cousin Seth is turning 30 -- hard to believe. I'm looking forward to it....it's always a good time there.

Anyway, I'll try to get out there next week.

Mike

note to issy:
i saw this movie "me, you and everyone else" - don't know if anyone has commented on this to you, but you really remind me of the lead character played by a performance artist named miranda july. you look a lot like her (i think) and she's also an artist. i recommend the movie - it's very quirky. hi to everyone else, tamar

Hey Judah,

Who do you think you're foolin? It sounds more like a nargillah than an inhaler. Don't forget...I knew you when you were in Israel. A little too many fumes from your car.

It's great to hear that you're shaping up. So exciting and naughty. Let's hear more of this.

Love, Libby

Dear all,

I'm so glad to hear this latest, and very happy, news on Judah! I wish I could be there with all of you to share in the joy and Judah's recovery--and then get lunch with Issi and Martha. :)

The last you heard from me, mom was whisking me away to the mountains for 4 July--and you can guess what happened from there. Between us, mom is still having some difficulties adjusting and her aging is making her more dependent on all of us children. Thus, whenever I am home now I spend most of my time with her, doing whatever she wants (and of course going dragging her to clothes outlets for me!)

I'm always thinking of you and once again reiterate how great this blog is: It really is a great way to follow Judah's daily developments, particularly since I cannot be there with you to talk about everything going on. You well know the entire Freese family is thinking and praying for all of you--and are truly amazed by everyone's courage, love, and family devotion--as well as the amazing array of friends and incredible support they are providing as an extended family.

Please post more photos of Judah and his surroundings. As always, he looks great. I'm always impressed when seeing him, either in person or the photos. And I would love to see how everyone is decorating his room. I love the Clue photo in particular--of course, launches more childhood memories.

Usually Issi tells me I always talk about myself, so I'll try to refrain. For a brief update of family events: Diane is in the process of moving into her new mansion (and is staying in her mountain home in the meantime) while I have been running back and forth between Tbilisi and the South Ossetia conflict zone (with military escorts) and the stomach flu. All of my new clothes from Barney's and Ann Taylor immediately become dusty and soiled, but I am glad to have them as reminders that I can always get the heck out of here and that I'm still the blond(ish) chick from Forrester Dr. John and Maria seem to be doing well and are both happy (John abit nervous) about their second child's expected arrival in September (when I will next be home). A shower is expected and of course the White girls' presence is demanded. My mom just returned from the mountains visiting both Diane and Mary Jean. I talked to her on the way back last night and she was eager to pick up Biscuit from the kennel (a place so familiar he now runs to the front door and wags his tail). If dad knew.... Katherine Rumer, Jean's eldest, is in the final stages of enjoying her first free summer (and last day of freedom in life) as she prepares for college: She is traveling to Wisconsin in mid-August, and will have to leave her first (stocky--twice the size of any Freese--perhaps he's more like a Holland) boyfriend. She is happy and doing well, but the Rumers are now coming to terms with the next stage in their life of seeing children leave (of course, they all plan to move right back home after college).

No new update on Paul and Densise, except that they are both always busy with work, church, family and a n extensive array of church and work-related friends. Paul is always the happy camper, and Denise a goddess for putting up with him (Judah knows best). Of course, he is the best Freese, we all agree.

Ok. Have to right an article on my latest adventures. Dominik will be her with his father in September before I come home. If I don't get a commission to write a book on all of this, I'll probably move home soon after.

And hey--what's up with Benji?!

Much love to all.

Shiksa

Judah -

Thrilled to hear you are picking up steam and your sense of humor is returning (okay, the jokes themselves probably aren't all that funny, but your delivery is no doubt CLASSIC). Anything else I would say is probably not fit to publish on the web or anywhere else, but wanted to let you know we are thinking about you all the time and know you will be getting back to normal very soon ...

Peace, etc.,
Packie
