Last night Judah was as excited for Mom's birthday present as she was. We gave her a Canon Digital Elph camera. Not many people know this about mom, but she used to love to take pictures. About twenty years ago, Dad bought her a tiny state of the art 110 camera with interchangable lenses that she used to tote around everywhere in an ugly red bag. Like Beta to VHS, however, 110 film lost the technology battle. Mom never could quite adjust to the rigors of 35mm. But digital! Look out. In less time than it takes a 55 year old to find her bifocals and program a blinking VCR, Mom was snapping pictures of things like the wall, the crack between the wall and the floor, the clock on the wall, the floor, etc.
Keep checking for actual (not reenactments, but actual) photos taken by Mom Arbus.
Judah (I swear if anyone tells him that I am writing this...) is so full of steroids that it is making him ancy. The good news is that he is animated and seemingly energetic when he talks. The bad news is that he is so exhausted from being energetic that he gets winded easily. Just a basic conversation is sometimes difficult. His lungs are still struggling. He keeps his oxygen mask on all the time. His doctors have prescribed TOTAL bed rest. Little things are now subject to his keenest scrutiny. When one of the many cards that he received yesterday (thank you all) is accidentally tilted slightly askew on his bulletin board, Judah demands that it be tilted back into correct position. Nothing escapes his eye. We are still waiting for his breathing to return to normal, for his steroids to be reduced, for his walking to resume and for him to come home.
MORE GOOD NEWS:
Judah is eating more and his appetite is returning. Yesterday was pancakes, Froot-Loops, and juice. Buy sugar futures NOW.

Judah:

We're on vacation in Hilton Head, SC visiting Beth's mom, step dad and various nieces and nephews who came out from Cleveland. Anyway, I had a break from golf and wanted to see how you were doing. Take care.

Judah,
We fondly recall how Froot Loops & cereal in general were a dietary staple in your house when you were little. Do you remember when Uncle Robby took Benji's Froot Loops & ate them all. Benji cried for hours.
Love,
Aunt Marsha

Martha,

Since you got a new camera, you can take the pictures at the wedding. I could save some money that way. Just joking.

Mike slept over last night and liked his new bed. Last week he asked when are we going to get a firm bed for him. So, Larry and I went out and brought a firm bed which is much better for his back. Mike comes down once a week and has been staying with us. I really like it; we are getting closer again. Blake has bonded with Mike and won't leave him alone.
Jason is feeling okay. He can only eat very small amounts of food.

Today, Amy and Dvir got their marriage license. They are all set to go.

Judah, we hope you have a better day and keep getting stronger.

Love Bobbi and Larry

Enjoy all those carbs while you can, Judah, because if you keep eating sugar at this rate, you'll need Atkins or South Beach when you get out of there!

Hi Hadj,

I saw CJ and his wife last night. As well as Audrey, Marshall, Naomi and Ruben. Everybody asks for you. Marshall made a rare appearance south of 53rd street and a chic NYC writer said,
"that's exotic. I should write about you."

Brooklyn in hot muggy hazy and still beautiful in it's own way. Lot's of tree lined streets and brownstones.

Space shuttle took off. Beautiful big yellow moon last night.

thinking of you at every street corner,

Love, Issy

Go Judah! Soon you'll be up and fixing the crooked cards yourself! You aren't by any chance bossing the nurses, are you?

Love,
Nancy L.

If you're serving pancakes with a side of froot loops, I have now found another place to take my kids! Glad to hear you're up to eating - keep it going.

Yo Judah,
Glad to hear you're full of energy, even if it's steroid induced. Too bad you can't take advantage of the moment and develop your push-up abilities. Since I've been hooked on this chick, I'm up to 75! (Gotta do something while we're apart, I guess).

Mazal Tov to your mom. Let's give her the present she's been waiting for and get your butt home so you can kvetch from the creature comforts of Forrester drive.

I just found out I'm no longer doing that wedding on September 4th, so I can stay out one more week! Looking forward to spending some good time with you. Can't wait to talk with you again.
