Crabby on Steroids

In fact he was soooo crabby today I knew he was feeling better. He had enough energy to boss Mom, me and the nurses around and to mutter and stamp his feet at misplaced objects and fallen items like glasses. We toured the rose garden again and Judah took some pics of the flowers. Mom had the biggest smile wheeling him out of the double doors. Big for her, anyway.

Judy and Les took Grandpa sailing, and then Judy took grandpa out to COH to see Jude.

He's gained six lbs in three days from the steroids, and will have to resume Lasix tomorrow. On Friday they move him to the new hospital. He's asked me to help him pack.

Rumor has it a friend made a donation to COH in honor of another friend's birthday. Thank you.

Also a shout out to Christy Fallin who made a very surprise visit this afternoon.

If you sent a card it's on the wall or it the top drawer.

Regards to everyone.

Hi Judah:

Yesterday we went hiking in the place you told me about last week. We actually passed by COH on our way there...not because COH is on the way, but because we got lost. (The sad part is that we passed COH AGAIN on our way home. Talk about not learning from your mistakes.) The place is Angeles National Forest and, as you said, it boasts flowing rivers and cascading waterfalls. We never actually made it to the falls because the kids couldn't wait to go swimming in the river and we capitulated to the pressure they exerted through their incessant questions (why can't we swim here? Isn't this place good for swimming? I think this is the best place for swimming--it's not too deep. The waterfall will be too deep and it won't be safe....). We're determined to go back and explore further, however, and hopefully I'll be able to give a first hand account of the waterfalls next time.

Have a better day today than you did yesterday.

Love, Zehava

Judah,

I must admit that seeing your progress is a huge motivator as I sit at work all day. Glad to hear that you're getting out as it must be a relief for you to be able to see something other than your room.

I hope you are feeling better and wanted you to know that I was thinkng of you.

Take care.

Judah,

Chinsky and I are on the phone at this moment. She's in the process of correcting an inaccurate bit of information attributed to "mickey" (never heard of him) in her last post. She's upset that she has another cold & can't visit you this week.

I'm know I'm being redundant here because you'll get all of this in Chinsky's next post.

Is this what they call "3 way blogging?"

That's all I have for now.

Dear Judah,

Could not believe how you still asked about everyone in Israel when we visited with you yesterday. Your wonderful sense of hachnasat orchim never leaves you, crabby or not( I did notice you were, though).
Now I am working on visualizing you at home, in your room or just roaming the garden and taking pictures of those flowers. Will Pixie be a problem?

Much love, Rachel

Hey grumpy man! So glad you managed to get out and take a few photos- any thought of posting one for us to look at? Sending healing vibes your way. Love, Ilene.

Judah,

I am reminded of the old convolesence humor about the gentleman who says "doctor, will I be able to play the violin" and subsequent punchline that he never could before. Perhaps you will now emerge and thrive as a slugging Right Fielder with the Dodgers now that you are on the juice.

In any case, it makes my day everytime I see how you are making such impresive strides and I look forward very much to speaking with you soon.

Keep feeling better Bro,

Josh Surowitz

Folks in Maryland like crabs and think they're cool. I can say that now that I'm one of them. So, if a=b and b=c, then a=c. Therefore, since crabs are cool and you were crabby, then you must also be cool. Hey, I think I've just proven that being crabby is good, right? If I'm not making any sense it's probably because I'm running low on fuel and need some food soon.

Anyway, just checking in on you and wanted to say hi. Glad to hear things are moving along nicely. BTW, let's see some of your pics. -ttyl, cindy c.

Hey Judah:

From the look of things, you're still probably getting the fashion award - love the robe!

I'm thinking of building a half court at my house and hope to then start a weeknight game for nothing else other than to relive some of the childhood days. Looking forward to having you join us when I do.

Keep up the fight and livestrong my friend.

Judah,

Alfred's repeated comments about how Mickey needs help managing is a feeble attempt to convince you that some scrub for Barry Zito is a good deal. Plus, the partnership agreement stipulates that I can't make any deals without Dr. J's seal of approval.

Talk to you soon.

Hi Judah,
My friend Evie checks your site daily to check on your progress. She finds it reassuring, knowing that other's are doing well after undergoing the procedure. Evie's transplant had a minor setback & was delayed a week due to a problem with the donor, but since there were several other possible donors, she is now set to undergo the transplant on Mon. the 18th.
Keep on grumping & crabbing.
Love,
Aunt Marsha

Hi Judah,
Glad to see/read that you are moving around. Although you are feeling weak, you are an incredible example of strength and perseverance. Hopefully by the time you read this blog you will feel a bit less grumpy. Kissing and smiling are two good face exercises to keep the wrinkles away (Got that trivia from the internet, not from Cosmo).
My thoughts are with you and the family.
Keep smiling,
Joanne Nach

Hey Judah,

I'm crabby too. Will the National League EVER win the All-Star game again? Good to see the Dodgers did their bit--Jeff Kent came up and promptly struck out,and Izturis went on the DL just before the game. Awesome! You'd better get well soon and off those steriods--the Dodgers need you!
