Early Morning Preliminary Report

Dawn is breaking over Duarte, or more accurately over the 605 freeway which is the view from Judah's room in the ICU. In a few more minutes the sun will flood his room. Judah loves the light . When the medical staff comes in to do rounds we have to lower the shades because they can't see the digital print out on all the machines. As soon as they leave the shades go up and room once again is bathed in sunlight.

Judah had a quiet night. His nurse Thelma, was attentive making sure all the iv's did not beep, chirp, scream or sing. She just told me her prayer for all her patient, "Please, Lord, let all these medicines work and restore them back to health". I told her of our daily prayer " to heal the sick in body and spirit and to give strenght to those who take care of the sick" . Our prayers acknowledge all the nurses, aids, therapists, doctors, health care workers, friends and family.

Boker Tov, Good Morning to all,

Martha

Just a quick story to amuse you. Every day, during the Shemoneh Esrei when it comes time for Heath & Healing part I have Judah in my thoughts. By the way, I also had some other friend and he's made a healthy recovery. Anyway, the other day, I decided I would say Yehuda Daniel Ben Massa 18 times. It was kind of like saying "She sells sea shells on the sea shore" because I got totally lost in the recitation and almost got totally lost in the service. As you are aware, the congregation doesn't stop because one guy wants to pray harder. Anyway, point is: healing Judah is in my thoughts now more than ever and Hashem is listening. Love you guys, Joe

Hi Amy Chen La,

One of the side effects of this blog is meeting some of the Whites' and particularly Judah's wonderful group of friends. It seems to me that only yesterday I was telling you Amy what your last name meant, and already you are a Hebrew and Yiddish writer! You must be one terrific smart woman.

Martha, the dream catcher, here is one for you....We were sitting and eating(just a few people), seems like next to that picnic area next to the hospital, we were eating some kind of Burrito, spicy, Josh Katzan was there, when all of a sudden Judah joined us, hungry, sat next to Josh and devoured a whole burrito. We tried to slow him down, but he just kept enjoying his food. Amen, ken yehi ratzon that we should all sit together and I will even learn to make burritos. Recipes anyone? Judah might be waiting for that birthday visit Josh was promising....

Love and prayers, Rachel

With every sunrise, my hope is restored that the dark times will fade quickly for Judah and all of the rest of your amazing family.

Dear Whites and Bloggers,

I don’t know how many of you heard of and believe in collective meditation, but people who practice it believe that it has a strong healing power. With the wonderful blog the whites have created we, bloggers, constitute a big virtual (imagine?) community which comprises dozens of vocal and perhaps hundreds of silent members. Well, desperate times call for desperate measures and I wonder if my virtual community would join me Wed. Aug. 10th at 11:50 AM sharp (just before lunch) in dropping all our worldly affairs and focusing on Judah’s health for 60 SECONDS.
Some tips for those who decide to partake in it.

1. Spread the word to as many bloggers/friends as you can. We would like to have a couple of hundreds people participating.
2. You should visualize your positive energy reaching Judah and helping him overcome his disease. You should, then, imagine Judah completely healed and full of life again (the more details the better).
3. Set an alarm clock to 11:50AM to remind yourself of the meditation.

(For the skeptical members of our community--or for the skeptical part in each of us)

It might help, but if not, at least we had an extra spiritual moment in our very busy worldly life.

Have a great day

Eli

Hi Judah,Martha, Benji and Issy,
We were pleased to see that Judah had a comfortable night and that the dialysis seems to have helped.
Judah - Keep up the good work!
Eli - I do believe in collective meditation and will certainly join you on Wednesday

Eli, what a great idea! A while back, I had y sent a mass email to ask my friends & family to pray for Judah. I like the idea of setting aside a specific time where we all join together in a unified powerful force. For those of us from NY, should we do it at 2:50pm?

Though I've never met Judah (I'm a friend of your Mom's), I feel compelled to write and throw some of my positive energy your way. I check in often and want to share that there are many of us out there praying for all of you. Fight the good fight and hang tough.

And in Chicago at 1:50 pm? Not all of us are lucky enough to still live in PST! : (

Sending postive energy every day to Judah, the Whites and his wonderful nurses, doctors and the rest of the caregivers.

Hi, Judah - I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and sending you lots of energy and strength and good wishes. It's been ages since we talked (law school, maybe?), but Alex keeps me updated. As a distraction, think of all the crazy things we used to do in St. Louis! And keep letting the light in. Much love to you, Adrienne

Eli,
Great idea to do a collective meditation. I will organize a group at our work. Many of my coworkers know Judah and we will all pray together.
Keep the sunshine coming in.

I'm in trouble with Downstairs Martha for publicly maligning her cat, so I'm offering a public apology: Max is really quite an extraordinary hunter and I apologize for portraying him otherwise.

The usual: just got home from work, checked the blog, posting my "Abby was here."

Love, AC
